    Allgemeine SS Collar Tab Identification

I just picked up a nice lot of SS insignia from the niece of a U.S. WWII veteran, including this Allgemeine SS collar tab. As you can see, it has a silver embroidered "2" on it and it was definitely removed from a uniform. Is this tab for SS-Standarte 2 "Deutschland" (2nd SS Battalion "Germany")? I'm looking forward to its identification and would like to know its value.

    Tab

It's for the Allgemeine-SS Standart 2 (Frankfurt/Main). Deutschland was an SS-VT and Waffen-SS formation, not Allgemeine-SS. Get a copy of Angolia's Cloth Insignia of the SS as you are in need of reference materials.

Hi Barry, this is machine-embroidered in grey silk for an NCO/EM not silver bullion hand-embroidered for an officer.

As Charles suggests there are a great many useful reference books out there, many of which can help you boost your knowledge.

      Cheers, Ian.
