This one is a new one, but it has many signs of being of the same manufacture as the known fakes, IMO. From the dark material, to the placement method of the loop ring, to the lack of the smooth edge around the front side and other casting signs, I fully believe that this is the case here.

I think this button is not orginal.
Shape of skull and accuracy of detail is not acceptable for serious german warriors.

Nothing wrong with the shape of the skull of course ( for this type ) , but it certainly has all the features you do NOT want to see on these .
I think the fakers have simply realized that marking it with the appropriate 1194-40 will only lead to finding unwelcome information on the internet ..

Basically no wear on the skull,
              but severely beat up pebbling?
              ..I'm thinking repop..

              cheers,
              Pauli

I still don't like it, (especially the way the loop is put in).
It should have a smooth edge around the outside and skull is a bit off.
                    Definitely not for me.

I have examples of both the 1194/39 as well as the 1194/40 , but I still was a bit afraid of what I had filed as " high end repro's " of the 1194/40 .
We never get to see them over here in Holland .
Untill last weekend I finally did , and what a disappointment - the overall appearance , the MATERIAL ( ! ) , and especially the reverse were way off ..

The button posted here can be examined here from pics alone and still fail ( the crack in the reverse rim is IMO deadly plus much more ) , but I am now convinced that judging in hand is so much faster and more reliable ..
