So, Ya all had your fun....what I was referring to was the 'thumbs down", "rubbish bin" trash talk without clarification business....simply rude, that's all.
It seems this site has turned into a tight-knit club of arrogance where senior members would rather post silly symbols (instead of typing an explanation) to a novice instead of contributing some useful data to possibly avoid making a costly mistake in the future.
And , as for "chorlec"remark Robert , I don't this so, I calls them the way I see them.... and KMA Ian & David !
The site administer has my permission to remove me from this site and refund my money!............Adios, MF......Frank

Hi Frank,
no reasons to go up the wall - no offense.
Short explanation: The skull you posted is a well known fake (not the first time posted here in the forum). Poor quality and wrong RZM marking on the background, too (M9 is for tinnie badges if my memory serves me right). Also Winkelman posted a picture of your skull from a sales catalogue.
Regards,
Dagaz

Dear Frank
Dear Frank - Please do not be so offended. I've been on this forum for years, and regardless of your perception, it's still the BEST military forum in the world - period!
When someone posts an item that is obviously fake, experienced collectors speak their mind without hesitation, often forgetting they were once novices as well. Some of the guys on the forum can come across as complete A-holes
(not really in THIS case), and some guys are really helpful and nice - just like in all society. Remember....you're on the SS forum, not on a cotillion forum. If somebody gets smart with you, just give it back both barrels. Many times, as in MY post, guys are just going for laughs, and it's rarely as personal as it seems. There are even guys who appear out of nowhere, and criticize and lecture those of us who collect SS stuff. I just tell them to join a damn monastery.
BTW, those 3-pronged skulls have been discussed many times - you can use the "SEARCH" button at top of page to research anything. The REAL ones, assuming they ARE real - I don't think they were even marked, but I may be wrong. Don't be hasty - hang in there.

There does now appear to be period photographic evidence from a neutral source that shows the 3 prong skull in use. Their biggest issue was that they appeared almost exclusively on the 'Alteste' fake visor caps alongside original 3-pin Assmann zinc eagles.
The subject piece is NOT one of those

That is all I ever wanted guys, an explanation of why it is a fake....I was not aware that I posted such a joke of a well-known fake badge (and never argued the opinion that it was), just the lack of courtesy in doing so.
I know a lot about many subjects, but I am a novice at this particular hobby....apologies to any I may have offended in my late night rant. Frank

Exactly ...
I never had the internet when I was younger all my knowledge that I have which isn't much came from books and listening to others.
Look & Learn ... look & Learn
