    TK Ring Applications

I was curious if any researchers or owners of TK rings who secured copies of the original owner officer files have found examples of the owners application to receive the TK ring. Besides being awarded at the discretion of Himmler, SS members who satisfied one of the prerequisite conditions could apply for the ring.

Does anyone have or know of a ring issued to a non-officer?

    Thank you.

I have seen one or two and they are known and documented. I will see if I can find some names.

I think there were about 400 or so coburg guys eligible, but that was years earlier so I don't know if any were not officers at that point...I could be wrong on that too, but I feel like I read this somewhere, perhaps in mr. Boyles book, but I can't recall...good luck!

My understanding is that a holder of the GPB regardless of rank was qualified to apply for the ring, as was holders of the RK.

Along with those awarded the Coburg Badge regardless of rank.

Coburg, GPB, RK and German Cross in Gold or Silver were qualifiers for NCOs as established in Himmler's enabling orders that are well known. Also any SS Mann with number below 5000. But does anyone know specific NCOs by name who received one?

The rest of the qualifiers pertained to officers, except for those given on Himmler' s wish. But from my reading one had to ask for it by application. Anyone seen a copy of an application?

There was a very badly worn ring sold on estand about a year ago that was attributed to an NCO who held the GPB. I wish I could remember his name.

Hi Joe.,, yeah that's a rare thing to see.. I don't think there was a form,,it had to be a request so either hand written or typed.. It would then probably go into the guys file.....
I don't ever remember seeing one on the old days of the HR forum. But,,do remember something like a letter stating one got approved and IF I remember right it was asking for the ring size..

Isn't there an application for the ring on page 124 of CG's book? I believe it is an application from SS Standartenfuhrer Rudolf Pannier for the ring found in his personal records.

From the documentation I have come across, TK ring requests were submitted up through the chain of command. Here is one requesting rings for SS enlisted/NCO's who had the GPB. As of 1 August 1939, all SS men, regardless of rank, with SS Ausweis numbers up to 10,000 qualified to receive the TK ring. That is a real wild card when trying to identify the recipient of a ring with a 1940s date.

                    Enjoy!

I know the published 1936 guidelines indicated application lists forwarded to the SS-Personalamt, but the guidelines also indicated applications could be sent directly to the personnel office. But perhaps Gaspare is correct that it was simply a typed request that listed the satisfied prerequisites.

The expansion of the automatic ring pool from 3000 max member number in 1934, to 5000 in 1936 and then 10,000 in 1939 could be taken to indicate the total lack of interest in receiving the ring? Either that or the personnel office told Himmler that a large number of early members of the SS had left or were expelled and the pool needed enlarging.

Maybe this is what you're looking for? A direct personal application to the SS-Personalkanzlei from a SS-Standartenfuehrer Pannier, an RK- & DKiG- Traeger.

The ring that Robin posted is the ring that I was thinking of.

The Lehsau (20.4.38) ring that Erich mentioned:

Thanks to sdesember and Erich for remembering and finding that thread on Panier that illustrates personal requests for the TK ring were made as well as the Lehsau thread showing a ring presented to an NCO. According to the Lehsau thread, it was to be auctioned in 2014. Did it change hands?
