yes,it is hbt,and heavy as sin. real or no,i would not like to wear this when it was wet!! getting to the bottom of all this is a time consuming exercise, but fun, that is the chase for me! i am told this gentleman belongs to a legion in Toronto that has some very nice hjss memorabilia obtained from the south saskatchewan regiment.i do believe that that includes some nice 2 piece dot 44 items.question(in general, not his item particularly)were camo uniforms more prone to be made out of a different material other than hbt? duck cotton?

i believe that you have to have groupee log in information to view the pics otherwise you get a circle with a line through it..if a member just gives me his e-mail address,i will send them the pics,if they care to post them. they are sized for loading at 75kb except for one. that should work.

MGM ,I will try.The scans are not very good to start with. I will say its the first ones I have seen made of HBT.They look like copies of 1944 Militaria's.What their made of is a moot point. There not correct.Just an opinion.Steve

                Fabric

The SM fabric is a tough challenge especially for beginners. But the fabric is not woven tight enough (I mean the threads aren't as close to eachother as they should). Then I believe that the thread is too large in diameter. Also there patterns are just too perfect...very few misprints, sharp edges etc.. These patterns are in quality like modern camo patterns....All this I think makes them detectable. Further the SM fabric offers another thing to look at but this I don't like to share on the forum as the bad man might watch....whoever that is .
Fritz, these are good points. As good the copies are they can't reproduce pre 45.materials.The difference is where the materials were produced in pre45 as to where they come from today.Climate has alot to do with wool and cotton.Steve

This combi is very uniqe indeed. From the pics I can't say that it is really HBT...But it has pointed pocket flaps and all buttons are of the same size . The things that Steve mentioned do concern me too. I can't comment much on the pattern as the pics are to bad...it is supposed to be Oak A.

From these pics one can't say that much. But I don 't like it from what I can see here...especially the contsruction is strange. If this was a variation it is a huge variation.

........were camo uniforms more prone to be made out of a different material other than hbt? duck cotton?

Cotton duck and HBT are the most common (especialy for SS camo) but there was also cotton twil used for wehrmacht camo...(looks like your jeans).

The price that you have paid is ok I think....even if it were all repros. So don't worry .

                  Cheers

                  Fritz
