Thanks for your opinion Steve, is it the sloppy embroidery on the one board your not happy with.
I did email David Delich to ask for his opinion he did advice me to return them, and try to find a pair to trade that i was more confident with.
He did say the woven piping on both straps is 100% genuine it is just the sloppy embroidery on the one board was the only issue he could see.
    Cheers
    Dave.

What a odd situation, the base board/piping seems correct and yet the embroidery is really off ? Board show no signs of being taken apart ? Could it be the embroidery person was having a bad day ? for the right price maybe you should keep them ?

Most people are too afraid to post here on LAH cyphers still and it's understandable.

IMO only hands-on can give a 100% certainty.

I do however like the boards posted at the beginning of the thread based on the pictures. Mr. Delich approving the construction of these straps is already a good sign.

Not all embroidered examples are "straight as an arrow". Some are a little less perfect which is also caused by the effect of having been used/rain/rubbed.

In my own collection I have a very nice NCO board like Bob's and then I have a pointed EM strap (both ex Martin S.) basically like the ones posted. Fine originals.

Even slip-on cyphers (also sewn directly to the straps) differ in quality. I currently have 6 slip-ons and they all differ a little from eachother, while maintaing the generally high grade of workmanship put into such a simple embroidery.

I have noticed that camera pictures can alienate original, fine pieces quite a lot. May it be uniforms, insignia, awards or even documents.

Anyway, just thought I'd chip in and I'm sure there'll always be different opinions.

        Have a great week everyone!

          Thanks Jim & Markus
It is a odd situation. I'm no expert but i'm certain i would be able to tell if they had been opened. It is probably just a case of the embroidery just being off.
The sloppy cypher in my pair is a near match to this one in the Bando Beaver book.I can understand it raising questions with it looking so different.
But in hand they have the same wear everything about them is identical apart from the cypher quality.
          Cheers
          Dave.

My pointed NCO is the one on the very far left ex the late Mike Beaver.

The pic above from the book shows how very well worn down these cyphers can look and how embroidery can vary, including the quality and
type of thread used! Some threads are more silky than others...

very nice board you have Markus.I suppose with all the slight differences and different thread used probably by different makers.Anything out of the norm like my sloppy cypher will always be frowned upon.
              Thanks again Markus.
              Cheers

Caution: As many books, the Bando/Beaver book is by NO means perfect!

Don't take it as a guide for authentic metal LAH cyphers for example.

                      Cheers,

OK I would gladly take your example as a guide for authentic metal LAH cyphers if you show it close enough to see details I know you have a good NCO pair

                          Hi Disco -

You know how it is about showing stuff in detail here on the forums. I prefer not to. It's a nice pair though and a present from a very dear friend. Also got his Panzer leather jacket and other ítems incl. his war diary. All ítems have their respective photo affidavit and 2 hours of HD video of when I got the group. - This friend is so greatly missed. Still can't believe he's gone.

                            Thanks everyone for your help
I think the best thing to do is remove my trade thread. If i were to trade or sell someone would end up in the same position i'm in now.
One is good one has issues,There best put away.
                            Cheers

Are they similar to the boards at the beginning?
