Should be Kriegsweihnachten, IMO. And why engrave Kompanieführer? If he was Kompaniechef, yes, but -Führer? That could change the next day (when another/higher officer appeared, for example). IMO not a war time engraving.

Gents many thanks for all your help ,even now after all these years of collecting it still shocks me how a dealer can look you in the eye an tell you " bought this direct from the vet who took it off the prisoner.......thats all i can tell you son...... militaria not my subject blah blah "

Sadly you shouldn't be surprised at anything they will try to pull where money's concerned.
