Can't comment on how much the damage affects the value but I can say I like the visor. My thinking would be as rare as these bad boys are if it checks out as all original the damage wouldn't hurt it to bad. You just don't see to many of these in this good of shape to start with. At the last SOS I'd say there was less then two dozen for sale.

The seller, whom I forget now, told me that the random hole through the velvet band was due to a Hitler Youth badge being stuck on there. Who knows why or when that was done, it had gone by the time it arrived with me.

It's your typical "economical" SS Kleiderkasse schirmmuetze. If you want a sure thing buying SS visors, these are the ones to buy.
