          That sort of lining (cheesecloth and treated cotton) is mostly found on civil and paramilitary caps - NSKK, Judicial, Postal, etc. I would think caution is the order of the day on something like this.

            Like I said, on page 6 of the thread that Chris created, there's this Infantry Officers cap and by the looks of it, the lining is a match in both material and colour.

            With certain makers, Erel, HPC, Pekuro, Kaps etc, photos are enough in most cases to authenticate them because they have their own unique manufacturing footprints.

            Hertlein is one of those makers that seem to be all over the place in terms of construction and materials plus factor in the known Hertlein fakes and it's going to be difficult to judge this SS cap. That's unless there is something completely obvious in hand that's not right, like a replaced centre band.
