    Smock photo from period photo

Friends, I realize this has probably been discussed ad nauseam elsewhere, but I have never seen the discussion. We have all seen the famous photo of Otto Funk taken around Caen a few days after D-Day but I was always curious: what type of smock is he wearing? It seems to me like an Italian-pattern camouflage variation but it looks like the cuffs are elastic like a standard issue smock. Just curious if anyone knows for sure what this is, exactly and if this was an actual issue item or just a 'one off' kind of deal that was field-made/modified. Thanks!

Mods: please feel free to move this to another sub-forum, if necessary.

I don't think I've ever actually seen an original one of these. Any one have an example?

Same cut, same cloth, same sleeves...

                  Best,

I have no problem with the Italian camo tunic being repro. However, there are endorsed claims and statement that the smock is a period original.

Rather than recite the stories of where, when, who it comes from. Let the item do the talking.

If the smock is reproduction then where are they made, by who and how can I buy one ??? .

Lets see what answers we get because those who have handled it are confident that we will not,

                            Chris

I have seen an original Italian smock before.

And seen a over print with Italian components also...........

                              Anything is possible
