    SS M43 cap on e-stand

    Gentlemen,

I`d like to buy this SS M43 cap currently on the e-stand. My question is what makes it an SS cap and not a M43 Heer with the trapezoid applied. Is it design, construction different material? I`m curious to learn as well to make sure all is good before committing this purchase.

    Cap

Personally, without ironclad provenance, I wouldn't buy any SS M-43 with a hand-applied trapezoid insignia. I don't doubt that some traps were hand-sewn, but IMO, it's a red flag that it is a post-war marriage. Insignia is original, but I can't speak for the cap itself. Even if the cap WAS originally SS, there is too much of a chance that insignia was applied later. Considering how many tunics and caps were stripped at end of war, if you can live with the possibility it is a later marriage, then go for it. But the price should reflect this. I'd wait to see what the experts think about the cap itself, before deciding. SS M-43's are bad-ass, but also risky.
