    Were rings awarded in WW1

Hi, am new here so be gentle with me .....
Some years ago i found a silver ring in the road in England, it is a shield and it has an iron cross in the shield the cross is black, just above the cross it has the numbers 11 4 16. On the inside it has Cund and P. Yaacks 11 2or5 16 engraved .. Also 90 which is stamped but as it is a bit battered its hard to tell if there is anything else.
Would be good to have some idea about it.
    So many thanks in advance.

    Hi lesliew, welcome!
Its tough to tell in the absence of a photo, or better yet- photos. But if youre wondering about rings in ww1, yes there were many, on all sides, some even made by the soldiers themselves as a memento of their time at war. Im guessing that april 11 1916 could be representative of the battle of verdun. I think it was happening around then, but lasted for a while...not a good end for the germans.
    good luck with your research!
