    A curious piece

    Gentlemen,
Aquired this tunic from a friend of a friend who was a collector and passed away. His wife was selling his collection. I am new to this but have done some research and hope the experts here can shed some light on a few concerns.
There are no belt ramp holes in the jacket.
Does not have the sizing numbers in the lining.
What is the 96 and the symbol above the 1942?
What is the triangular insert in the sleeve cuff? It still has thread attached like it was sewn closed. Also a plastic button.
There is still black thread attached were patches were removed. Sleeve eagle, collar tabs, and on the left sleeve about 6" up from the cuff.
Thanks in advance for all your help!
    Jim

It will have the rear centre seam as well

Classic Swedish tunic ... they used to be popular with the budget-conscious re-enactor.

for its resemblance to a m-43, has no relation to the Wehrmacht

NO, clearly you misunderstand, what our friend was saying is that these extremely common and cheap Swedish tunics were often used in the film and TV industry as they would be FAR cheaper to buy than to have reproductions made.

if we can think of a movie, these uniforms with the NVA are pumping more than 3 reich for its resemblance, a young and small budget guy there on ebay that sell the original m-43..es most likely.
