    Hi,
I wouldn't dismiss the armband not in it's present company all the items are early so it could be a early armband made for the member by his wife lots of hand made things like flags and armbands seen in early pictures I'd say it was period.

I think that merdock could be correct. Before RZM standardization, a lot of very early insignia was hand made and by today's collector standards are dismissed as repros.

The same issue is on the other side of the coin. When the RZM no longer controlled WSS insignia after 1942, too often theatre made insignia is again thrown into the repro trashbin, with little thought.

Sometimes, we as collectors get a mind set with blinders.

      How about some better pictures?

        G,

I suggest you do a little research on the value of that Collar Tab. I can assure you it is not a $100 or $200 Tab and I'll bet your Inbox has been blowing up with offers to buy it at those prices.

the Armband can be very possible original.
I remember enough estate sales with many variations for SS Armbands, especially in the early SS years.

I like the rune tab alot!

Thank you for all of your comments guys.
Yes, my Inbox has been flooded. I am going to sell or trade all of this so when I decide what I'm doing I will get back to you to let you know if something your interested in is still available.
Here is a better picture of the buckle marking and the back of the armband. This is all I have from her until the box arrives on Tuesday.

The armband could be some ugly early example, women offering SS items what next the world is turning upside down, next cats and dogs will make peace

Well I thought the box was going to arrive last Tuesday but it came today instead. Here are some pictures of what the buy consists of and a couple showing some details on the pieces that were pictured when I started this thread. Now that I have the armband in my hand I agree that it may be a good one. I ran it under a blacklight and it did not glow. The red material is thin but pretty stiff. I took the picture with it partially inside out so you could see how it is sewn together and how the circle and swastika are sewn on.

What do you think? She's not a collector and she thought it was original because of where her late husband got all of this.

                  Waiting anxiously for your replies.

                  Thanks

                        Love that CupAl TK

As for that armband - I guessss it could be OK. I'm still not a big fan of the crude construction, but if some of the more versed SS men on here say it could be pre-RZM then I think you are pretty safe.

Good catch, it's a nice little group!!

Does anybody have any more thoughts on this armband now that I posted the extra picture?

That armband is questionable in my opinion, and therein lies the problem. It could very well be original, but hard or impossible to prove. The crude construction will likely turn most collectors off as a result.

I vote in favor of the armband being a good, early cotton armband, done in a local cottage industry setting. The Party was always short of money in the early days and if it was good enough, it was good enough! Everything else is 100%.

Any more information from the lady as to where her husband got the stuff 50 years ago? That would be 1965.

Guys, thanks for the replies and for the PMs. I said I would post on here what was going to happen with this stuff so I am not ignoring your messages I'm just looking at my options right now before I commit anything to anybody.
Her husband was a collector of American Civil War material and a neighbor of theirs who was a WW2 veteran and Civil War collector also gave him this stuff when he purchased his Civil War collection. That's all she could really tell me because this stuff had just been put away and forgotten and had not appeared again until after he died 5 years ago and she was selling his Civil War collection. She had no idea of how to get rid of this stuff so it was just hanging around. That's all I can really say about it. She is convinced the armband is real because of how he ended up with it and when I told her in the beginning that a couple of guys had pooh'd on it she was amazed and a little suspicious of where my offer might be going.
