The lack of a seam line behind the skull concerns me. A seam line should be at least slightly visible. I could be wrong but I don't see it on this ring.

Don is a great guy, but there are more than enough original examples in existence to be able to know good from bad at once.
In other words why pay Don Boyle $250 for him to reinvent the wheel.
Come on guys, these HR rings are really very simple objects.

But the key to definitively judge originality still remains the same : having the ring in hands
By pics alone we can just post a lot of (for obvious fake) few (for one lookers) and just opinions about all the rest (like Karl's ring).
Just my 2c

Hello everyone,
here they are. The documents are mostly postwar. I have not had the chance to look through them. The large photo with overpainted insignia is actually the one which was hanging on the wall like that (see family picture).

Post #44, 4th photo down. Right side of Sig-Rune triangle border is completely intact, yet the left side is completely gone. HOW CAN THIS BE? - considering how close the left side border is to the skull, it would NOT be this badly worn, due to the skull protecting it. Plus.....the way the leaves blend into the border reinforces the belief that the ring is cast. The wear on this ring is not believable. How do the sides completely wear away when they're between your fingers? No way in hell the skull is this intact with the rest of the wear on the ring. Also....How does the TOP of the Sig-Rune wear away, and not the center, which is the highest point? IMO - Not an authentic ring.

don't know if good or bad. Some observations.
Early pattern seams can sometimes be very hard to see. Looking at the photos,,I do see a hint of a seam here and there, also evidence of heating.
Strange looking wear? Yes. Extreme wear to a rune and a couple MMs away the hi point of the skull is only slightly worn smooth[?] Some of the wear looks flattened, like machine sanded down, then hand sanded to blend.
Send it to Don, end it.. Yes, he will be gone one day and as mentioned what then? Dealers will be selling counterfeit HRs with certs from whomever. There will be movies of a ring being dug from the ground, you name it you'll see it. A few will end up to be counterfeit. The market will be 5 times worse than it already is.....
Why do inexperienced buyers mess with questionable HRs,,,who wants the headache... IF your not buying for investment/one of these guys that will never sell it no matter what,, just buy one of the good copies and display it..

TKRings
Don Boyle is unquestionably the master of the totenkopfring. But were he unavailable for consultation, the rings would still have to deal with the scrutiny of this, and other forums. If quality, closeup photographs are presented, people can get a pretty good idea if something is real or not. Notice how many TK rings are "one-lookers", with little opposition? Then....there are the others.
This ring is far from a one-looker, and among other things, has a pattern of wear that is not realistic, IMO.

Hi,
i will get some friends to check the ring, and they also can check the Knight Cross too.
Or the ring and the KC are originals,
Or both are fakes and in that case it is the first big scandal of the year
Or one of the two is fake, and in that case it will be just one of the many "pimped" lots...
I think that we will need to take some pop-corn and a good chair
See You

Click on above...Post #2 - Look at the top left side of the Sig-Rune triangle (Between skull and swastika), where the leaves butt up against the triangle. You can see it was cast - not sharp or crisp like originals. NOW - where is the outside line of the triangle's left side Where did it go??? The RIGHT side is perfectly intact near where there's lots of wear. BUT.....the left side is missing completely, but it's in close proximity to the skull, so how can that occur? The patina is a joke - the Ty-Rune is completely worn off, but the nearby leaf traces are black as night - same for the inside. I WILL give them credit.......whomever did the patina at least knows the correct product to use.
