Ugly fake "Charlemagne" Leroy watch

Hi,

ugly. You will note that the seller didn't post the actual engraved inscription on the auction page.

I will not point out the lack of historical proofs and the low probabilities of having a french Watch given or kept by a german officer of the "Charlemagne" who waited until February 1945 and the upgrading of the brigade to the division rank to have his Watch engraved...

Laser engraving, error in the title of the unit (should be "33. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS "Charlemagne") and modern post 1945 font.



I sent a fully review to the seller, without any reply.

Hi,

starting from the fact that the "divisional shield" is a fantasy post war, you are 100% correct... Not counting the LASER ENGRAVING...
And i'm sure the latvian seller has a good plausible explaination for having the watch too...

sure Mayol de Lupé had more taste than this ugly Watch, the text is also non-sense :

Gott mit uns
Légion SS Charlemagne
Légion des volontaires
français
contre le bolchevisme

Again, the "Charlemagne" unit was not a "legion", it was for most of his history a brigade size unit which was upgraded to a division a few days before 2/3 of it were sent to Pomerania in February 1945...
