    SS Kepi Skull, Opinions?

Hello everybody. I am seeking some advice on this jawless skull. It measures 3.5 CM from topbone-topbone and 2.5 CM from the top of the skull to bottom of the jaw. The back prongs also have grooves running along the top and bottom. Is this a panzer skull or a skull off of an SS Kepi? more importantly, is it real?
    Thanks, Hayden

Berlin hoard. Notice the sand / dirt that it came with. Search Berlin hoard skulls.

        Skull

Bottom line is that originality of these skulls is yet to be verified. Many here think they're good, and many don't. Supposedly unearthed in Berlin a few years ago (There was a newspaper article in Germany announcing the find). I don't know if they're good or not. On one hand their appearance and materials suggest they authentic, but I've never understood the concept of the serrations on the prongs. They serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever, but look cool. Serrating the edges of the prongs does absolutely zilch in holding the badge to the cap. Another possibility is that the prong material just came that way, and that's just what they used.
PS: The SS did use a variety of different design early skulls, but there's no way to determine if each example was SS or Army Regimental insignia, as they were often identical. The only way to attain a 1st-pattern skull that was made specifically for SS, is if it's RZM-marked, but only a few companies even marked their early skulls. "St.&L" and I believe M1/24 are the only examples I've seen.

Thanks for the detailed response. I will hold on to it until this matter is solved in the future. I got it cheap so it doesn't hurt me any.

          Thanks, Hayden
