Could it be Third Reich era bugle with aftermarket SS Badge??

Looks like just another period item completely ruined to me BUT I'm sure there will be someone who could tell for sure ... given some decent photos.

Ian is right this is a post-war creation. Original ss bugles are very/extremely rare they have an ss eagle on it (similar to a visor eagle) a ground-dug example is shown below

          Nope

The signalhorn appears to be a period item, Meinel and Herold was a large instrument maker/distributor in Klingenthal. However the added device is a post-war fantasy addition poorly done . Most of such instruments with other than party, HJ eagles or Imperial state devices are creations done to prey on the collector. In my opinion..to consider as original to the horn the device should be made of the base metal of the instrument, appear almost to be embossed from the instrument, and show absolutely no visible solder around the device. Not to say that some Spielmann didn't potentially add an eagle to a signalhorn but I would not want one in my collection unless there was solid provenance. Nice Prussian examples...used well into the third reich..or plain, unadorned examples can be routinely found on eBay.de for less than 100 Euros. Maybe not as sexy but cheaper and you'll be able to sleep well at night!

          Best regards and happy hunting,

          Shawn

That sure looks off. like SS was added by a sloppy engraver.

the relic bugle is not mine but you do not have to worry, it is original, found at "Nord"'s position in the North of Russia the last year

here is another one in good condition the eagle is slightly different though which means there were more than one variant and/or makers of ss bugles

I've seen it before, in fact yours is the only original that could find on the net. Very cool item IMO if you ask me and extremely rare and now you can be absolutely sure it is 100 percent original. Congrats

Very nice to see another one from the same maker (I suppose 535 is the code maker) and one with the date 38 and the other one 39. They seems exactly the same in construction except that the eagles are slightly different.
How did the one you posted was found?
