Hi!

I'm not so deep in TK field, but I think that there's not a particular reason. Is a stylist choose in use in the early years of the war, I think till 1942… So, they have decide to leave the mirrored TK to shows the rank tab, impossible to see if the shoulder boards are hidden by the camo smock.

Also, it is mentioned in Angolia's book that the SS-TV authorized the use of mirror image insignia.
While I agree that they changed over to a rank tab because of the wearing of camo smocks obscuring the shoulder straps & their attending rank identification, starting in 1940, an officer like Wegner would have made himself "indispensable" in the camp at Sachsenhausen, so as to avoid service at the front.
