    Embroidered skull

What do I have here? An officer skull for the panzer beret? A fake? Or what?
Please help a poor Luftwaffe collector.

you are correct, it is supposed to be modeled after the ss panzer beret style skull.. and obviously in officer fashion.. but it's def a no go.. but it looks cool.

Just curious and want to learn something: What exactly means "this rolled bullion again"? Is that something typical for repro SS items?

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thanks, Lenny, but actually that was the site where I found out that this skull should be the pattern for the SS Panzer beret (I usually try to found out all available information first before I post dumb questions here) ... As I mentioned, as Luftwaffe collector I am not in SS skulls, metal or cloth.

I meant: Is there a picture of a bullion skull of this type anywhere out there or is this skull just a fantasy item? A repro usually tries to copy an original.

What David means is the tubular profile bullion rather than the more normal spiral wrapped type we are used to seeing. The tubular type is most frequently used on low-budget fakes, often out of the Indian sub-continent.

Personally I've never seen a photo that's clear enough to say for definite it was bullion.

This is styled on the original design ... or near enough.

Personally I wouldn't buy it BUT I cannot say/prove 100% definitely that it's a fake ... just that gut feeling and natural cautiousness you develop over the years.

                Cheers, Ian.

                  Thanks, Ian!

This bullion skull was in a small lot with a pair of panzer collar tab skulls (which are definetely genuine and the reason why I bought the lot for cheap 60 Euros) and a pair of Panzer shoulderboards which are definitely fakes.
