    Allgemeine SS visor for review

    Gentlemen,

this visor is currently for sale and I`m interested. I`m not an expert and there`s a lot of money involved in this so I`d like to get more opinions about it.

    Thank you in advance

i think you could safe the money.

Check other black visors and see differences in lining, sweatband and so on.
Pics are very ugly could be a frankstein but also a janke reworked to fool better.

Does it have a gaberdine band or is it some kind of brushed felt ?
A close up of that skull would be good too ...
          Regards

            Cap

Cannot speak for the insignia, because the images are not clear, but the hat itself is a real one. Part of the final generation.

Original Visor cap, when I am not wrong a later produced variant. Insignias are to blurry here to judge.

Thank you for letting me know that the hat is good. Waiting for pictures of the skull and eagle from the seller.

With all due respect to member quoted, the above is inaccurate and dangerous information. Known originals do conform to the posted cap. In fact, several EM/NCO and Officer black SS Sonderanfertigung caps can be found with a silver-gray rayon lining and a "coco-brown" sweat band just as the example posted above-though the majority of enlisted Sonderanfertigung caps obviously possess a golden colored lining. Just because a item isn't "textbook", for lack of a better term, doesn't mean that it's a reproduction/Frankenstein/Janke.

i write "i think" and i'm still thinking, of course respecting all opinions.
You asked, i replied. May be i could be more cautious and you could give proper pics.

Could you make a better pics of the visor and how it's stiched?

My opinion is based on the crash of visor in to eagle zone, to the fuzzy piping on top (and big) and on sweatband who seams reworked.
                      I thought removing Janke features.

Of course lining could be different, early and late ones.

I've no problem to recognize mistakes. After pics under sweaband and of stitching the vulcan fiber visor.

i've researched in my archive another a 2/843 (F. Bannewitz), it hasn't runes under visor or in lining and using the same sweatband. Construction seems the same, also the diamond.

the cap in question has a LW eagle (?) but was judged good by FB who is one the best expert in black SS.

If i well remember, it exist more "common" version (similar) with circled runes (very thin runes with strange angle if i well remember) but also different sweatband. Brown but heavier and more thick.

I confused with this version (spoke about frankestein)

                          Cap

There are others here with more knowledge than myself, but I don't like the way the piping is frayed, either. Maybe later, cheaper materials were used, but the piping doesn't usually fray that much.

Hi yes these are hard to catch ok or not as the inner lining is not like in the early ones. And these are a bit poorly made as those from the early 30ties
I saw two once - one from the first edition and one of these - indeed there was a slight difference in the quality, but still both were ok
Still a nice one - the pictured i mean
                              congrats
