It may not be SS with the black and white piping, unless it is a very early example. At any rate, it does not look original to me. The pip looks to be replaced and I am doubtful of the that litzen, but I am sure more knowledgeable collectors will respond here.

It has a certain amount of charm ... I also believe the pip has never been replaced
Personally I feel it might have a chance as a very early tab
      But who knows ???

You do have a point here, and the more I look at it, it just may have potential. The placement of the litzen so far up is unlikey to be seen on fakes, but the pip does not look like it has been married with it for 80 years in my opinion.

I like this tab ..also nothing wrong with the rank litze, it's the less common rayon type but still good...
            Best regards

              Tab

There was a period (1933, I believe) when the SS wore black/white bi-color shoulderboards and black/white collar piping, identical to early SA, but if I'm correct, the SS enlisted tab piping was WHITE during this period. It can't be an SA tab, because only SA officers wore tab piping. Unless some early SS-VT or similar organization wore such a tab, it needs to be questioned. As for the pip, aluminum pips can be deceiving, as they often don't show their age.

                  Tab

Let's wait and see if more of the SS heavyweights weigh in on the SS regulations I mentioned.

                    Nice one.

If I would bump this one on a show in the artificially box, I would take it for a fair prise.
It has the real good look, and all his components.also stains. But ok , can be manufactured recently.
                    I would also say a
But we need really the experts here I think.
                    I'm not sure.

                    Experts ? please respond
