Dont buy the Story, dont buy the hat

This morning offer in my email account

    Sehr geehrter Herr H.,
    Tilman Giebel

Even from my limited experience I don't like the visor but I have a sidebar question.

It's often repeated not to buy "the story" that almost every piece of military comes with so why, I wonder, are we always interested in the story describing how pieces are acquired or the alleged chain-of-custody of an item? Clearly 'some stories' seem more acceptable to the community than others. Sgt X of Y division brought this back is just as readily accepted as discounted it seems to me…

It rather reminds me of the public criticism of Ebay while there's a ton of threads saying "found this on Ebay" which means serious collectors ARE watching and buying from Ebay.

wow what a bargain! Paul Haussers' visor only 15000 euro? I'll take 3! I guess since this visor belonged to Hausser we need to rethink our former opinions on the "pigeon head" eagle. You definately CAN'T polish this turd..... makes one wonder what these charlatans are thinking....

Sure get the story whenever you can, but dont take any story for granted. That means, dont have a closer look at the item itself, just because it comes with a great story.

I thought that the NVA visors were missing the lower cap band row of piping ?

                        Either way it's a P.O.S.

Your knowledge would have to be very, very limited if you ever considered it to be even close to WW2 original.

                            Very bad pictures..

In most cases the mist cloud is used in a very bad picture to camouflage the details you want to see.
Never buy on "Misty" pictures for sure
