Repro Totenkopf for Schirmmütze - how old?

Fell out of an old box this morning . . . something long forgotten, I suppose.

When I picked it up, I became curious - how long ago was this version of repro being made? I think I've had this for about 20 years now . . . and I know the fellow I got it from, felt he had it for much longer - something tells me he believed it started showing up in the late 1960's . . . anyone know?

Yep, they were certainly in circulation here in the UK back in the mid-70's ... they were matched with the 'Pigeon-head' eagle £1.50 each or £2 the pair

        Haha I already thought so!
I can't talk about the 70s with you because o was born in the 80s, so I respect the "older people "

Ner, ya cheeky you pup !

I was only a teenager spending my paper round money ... mostly on the British wartime surplus and bring backs I found in local 'junk shops' and the
German items I could afford in the small ads in the hallowed pages of Exchange & Mart

Some of the things I did in the 70's have made it hard to remember the 80's! back then I never thought I would see the 90's let alone today's futuristic date lol!
It is nice you (and I) appreciate and respect the collectors which have been around longer than us!

Geezers, Old Geezers, and Ancient Geezers we all are . . .

Thanks for the insight everyone - thought this might be a fun, "retro" topic . . . and all the more fun to know, if the badge originates from the late 1970's, then I can rest assured, knowing that I came about as much as a decade earlier.

Myself near two decades if it is from the late 70's, does that put me in the "Geezers or Old Geezers" class N.C.? LOL!

joking aside it is interesting to learn when this particular fake emerged on the market, I wonder how many non internet savvy collectors have these in the collection thinking "it must be good cause I got it at a gun show and have had it so very long"? old fakes and when they emerged on the market could be a good topic for a thread?

Though you may carry a few more miles, I would still place your date of origin within the "Old Geezers" class - at the tail-end of the scale curve, of course - pre-emergent, let's say . . . along with myself!

Yes, if it could be organized properly, I think that would be a great idea - a topic rooted in the identification and dating of all the various repro TK's.

Perhaps this already exists - I don't know? This was a first thought that popped into my mind, when this old repro dropped on the floor the other day . . . but how such a topic might occur, I can't say. It would be best, limited to minimum "chatter", I think . . . but in almost every topic of this specific nature, how many times do we see the temptation to post one's "chatter" to be too difficult to overcome - and the topic get's bogged down? Sometimes, this can be enjoyable . . . and others, not so, I think.
