When you collect a long time you learn to ignore stories from Vets sometimes. Many were setting up souvenir businesses even before the war was over! The piece must stand on its own..
"Pieces that are recognized by the majority of collectors and experts as original, can be only declared as such".
In my opinion that is a dangerous way to think and collect! They can only be declared as 'maybe' or 'authentic by some'...
It's like the old diggers stories I used to hear in the 90s.. One guy will lie and say he dug it up himself,,the friend will swear he was right there,,another will say yes he's had one for many years... Andi my friend,,all that does not make it authentic...
