SS sleeve eagle thread

When I see the color change from the silver white to this yellowish color for this Hammerhead, that proves to me the insignia is old and original.

I see the same color change on some cuff titles.

It is really hit and miss with SS stuff, some change color, some remain the same.

I've always wondered why?

Anybody have an idea? Or disagree?

My uneducated guess on the turning of color to yellow on some cufftitles is the use of silk thread.

Yeah - for anyone who did not experience the years prior to the 80's, it's very difficult to comprehend what the results of smoking produced.
I can still recall that sticky feeling that Nicotine produced on so many things over the years.

My small contribution to the thread. These are most of the known original examples or SS enlisted arm eagles. Obviously, this isn't all of them but a majority that are known. I am missing some hammerheads in there and a few bevo examples. I have a few more just not an updated photo.
