Unknown ring, digged from SS battlefield

    Hello,
I found this ring where the hungarian and german troops broke out from Budapest.
I don't know if it is a military ring or civil.
For me oak leafs looks german, and I think it's a german mithology simbol.
I found similar simbol on Himmler's great chair.(link: http://www.icollector.com/Rare-Docum...-Des_i17960547) Lebensbaum and Sonnenrad

    What do you think?
    Thank you!
    Laci

          Ring

I agree that it's likely very old, as suggested by it's crude construction - but it wasn't made by a professional German jeweler from the 3rd Reich era.

Considering the posterior aspect of the ring, with the regular cross line patern, I dont see how this could date from the 17th century.

I dont see anything regular in any of the cross hatching,am i missing something here? id love to know the age myself,i love it jean, im thinking it could even be pagan ,so much earlier, the sun is being worshipped by raised hands with the planets circled round it, fascinating isnt it

Philbrown: can you explain your two replies? They are quite confusing for (new) members.

                My first thought as well!

Thank you for the many interesting reply. I hope we can find an answer what kind of symbol is it and how old is it.
What do you think is it 100% silver or should I check with a jeweler?
                  regards

The cross reference in the centre, below the "outstretched arms" make me think this isn't a Third Reich piece - this makes it look more Christian than Nazi. Not practical to have been worn by a soldier. Right sort of age, but civilian I think.

Shame there are no maker marks. Nice find.

                      Kind Regards,
                      Simon

I think there was a stone attached inside that is now missing.
