    SS Button? Please indentify

I came across this SS button with some other items I purchased from a vets family. Everything else seems legit so I am guessing this is also.
My question is what is it?
On the inside of the button the numbers 87535 are stamped on the top.
On the bottom inside of the button it looks like JPS.
Sorry the pictures are as good as I can get.

          SS Members button

Marked JFS I believe. What is the serial number on yours? I have one as well.

Supposedly, there were only two makers of the SS civil pin, Hoffstatter and Gahr.

So is JFS a third maker? What gives?

            Another collector myth?

After looking at it closer I think it is a J F S at the bottom of the button.
I don't think it was altered post war. The other items in the cigar box that came with it looked untouched since the war.
I plan to list it on Gunbroker. I was just uncertain of what it was and an approx. value.
              Thank you.
