    SS-hauptamt cufftitle

    Hello all,

I don't believe this one is authentic as it looks a little loose and there are a few letters with an odd shape, namely the "t" but the weave of the cuff looks fairly good to me. Can anyone please help me determine one way or the other? Also came with a rune collar tab, is this a variant of a flatwire?

William, the glittery look to the tress and feeble embroidery would cause me to pass on the tabs, and that puffy embroidery on the cufftitle would lead me to believe it was a doctored blank specimen.

The back of the rune tab looks like it was harvested from a LW or other tab - it looks like a good backing. But the rest of the tab - yuck.

thanks for the help and that theory makes sense. Can anyone please confirm that the cuff itself is a period band? I know Reddick makes these blanks from original machinery, is it one of these instead? I don't know how to tell the difference between originals and the Reddick blank, is there a tread out there?

I am not doubting any opinion on why the weave of the cuff is wrong, but can you please further elaborate so I may learn? Is it anything you could explain to me?

My question is about the silver wire used to form the letters on the cuff title.

Was bullion silver wire like this, ever used on originals?

                      Anybody have an opinion?

No, I've never seen this type used on anything original. William, the "squares" that make up the cuff title fabric weave are fairly consistent on an original, and irregularly woven on a replica, for one.

Having said that, I've seen original numbered cufftitles flipped over with the back side embroidered with numerals. But in short: it's the weave pattern.
