Just a matter of age and storage?

Here are two RZM runic collar tabs.
Is it just a false perception that I am holding? It almost seems like they are different in construction. Or is it just that one is in great shape (the left one) and the one (on the right) has been thru the mill a smidge?
    Any comments are appreciated.
    Zu befehl,
    Tim

The one on the right is a fine example on moleskin I would buy any day
These newer types on the left do scare the life out of me ....
But my gut feeling is this is a prime un issued mint example.
        Regards
        David

Well, is there such a thing as moleskin?
That's what D. Davies calls them.

Moleskin is a hard wearing heavier than normal cotton fabric, tightly woven and extremely durable. Used during the Reichswehr period for light weight field uniforms.
The sheen (shiny appearance) and soft feel makes SS collar tabs produced from doeskin cloth material extra desirable...a soft nap, silky smooth, satin like almost.

OK. The Reichswehr period is over and done with in 1936. Are there Runic tabs that look like these 2 examples from that period that were made with moleskin or would it only be LAH tabs with the black and white litzen?

Both good, but produced by different companies. IMO.
