SS officers hat
Thank you for everyones comments and info.
I purchased the hat with a decent AC 44 P-38 which was all matching.
That was my main goal as I mainly collect guns and only buy things of cloth if they come with other items.
There was also a nice matching k98 bayonet along with some US military items such as unit patches and other misc items.
However as another member mentioned this doesnt prove anything. I am realistic and realize he may have purchased the hat post war just becasue he liked it.
I thought the hat was real just because it looks so old. It even has that old musty smell. The top of the hat also has a faded look to it that is hard to see in photos. The sweat band also has a fragile feel to it.
Either way I will probably just hold on to it because it does look cool and makes a great display
