Not sure if this is meant to be the same type but:

The use has been verified, but what still isn't clear to me is if the patch in question is a period original?
For it looks like modern made with synthetics to me, but I like to learn!

Looks modern to me as well...synthetic...burn test done? Does it glow?
To me it looks like a modern back- packer trip souvenir or nationality flag...
But I do agree that something similar (a plain Norwegian flag) was period worn.

I consider this patch to be a good one, you can see period photos of such type in wear. Similar post war shields were indeed made, but on olive green background.

P.S. The patch passes both black light and burn tests.

If Askold says yes and it passes the burn test you have a winner,
but it does not look like Massino's example...
and period photos showing these only proves that such rectangular flag patches were indeed worn, but weave pattern and back side would remain hard to judge..only size...

Another example...Does yours match the width of a sleeve eagle? These appear quite big!

Perhaps there were various patterns (and sizes). Would be a terrific find, if yes!
The soup drinking soldier appears to have a smaller one...or sewn off-center...(compared with eagle wing)
