Looking to hear opinions on this M44 DOT camouflage pattern tunic. Looks to be constructed from straight cotton twill rather than HBT weave. Looks to have tan SS Sahariana style buttons, not sure if these are glass or bakelite construction (dated '43). Tropical style SS eagle.

Please let me know your thoughts...

Please post more pics. I like it more than I don't. The eagle is not original to it though.

        Cheers

Totally good tunic. That's the plain woven linen fabric- it's not common but it is original. (Weitze had some trousers made from this stuff on his site a few months ago.) This fabric in tan is often used in linings of dot trousers.

good original, nice colors. 6 different materials were used in orig. dot, the more common being the hbt weaves. weitze.de still has dot trousers of this very same material on its site for comparison. as we know, most of these original eagles are post war applied but a few years back ruptured duck had a dot tunic for sale w/ tropical eagle that was obviously as old as the tunic so they were applied to dot & not just sahariana.

How much are these tunics valued at I have never seen one of these from where I live in England

                      Greg:

As far as I am concerned Bill Shea can have tunics and COAs from veterans all he want. I don't believe in that combination as being authentic.

As I said, from the few pics provided I like it more than I don't. In this day and age I would like to see more though, that is for various reasons.

                      Cheers

fritz, du hast recht, ich stimme zu. to Britain jacky: these tunics sell for $4-5,000.

Yes, I would leave it exactly as it is ... there are more combinations and non-standard items than we can begin to know about so as long as you don't pay a premium for the sleeve eagle being there it's no harm done in my opinion.
