Put military buttons back on it with a sleeve eagle and you have a nice one!
Signs of removed shoulderstrap loops?

Buttons are original to the coat - also thought at 1st they were changed, but they are not.

Interesting ! Usually such buttons are replacements (for civilian use)...must have been a late war thing to use these ersatz buttons!

Perhaps easier to button up with gloves on!

SS guards coat heavy fur lined
