    Side Cap Soutache

Is it correct that SS Officer side caps could also have a soutache around the skull insignia? Would a SS general's side cap display any soutache at all? Was the distinction of wearing the eagle on the front or left side of the cap determined by regulation or the preference of the officer?

    Many thanks in advance!

of course soutache could be find in high officier side cap.
Eagle depends by model. m40 frontal, 34 lateral.

m34 colour black , earth brown and feldgrau /making it simple/
m34 have botton frontal with a tk inside and an eagle in a triangle little in earlier model larger later. Black triangle or brown in earlier.
Sides of cap decline larger rear thin frontal

m40 feldgrau or black for panzer units. frontal insigna eagle and tk separated. cap have sides that declines really less from rear to frontal.
Have a false piping on top witouth sewing evidence, this false piping cross in a Y on front and rear.

Inside m34 are in cotton black for black, light brown for cotton, m40 cotton but also rayon in % different and different colours. For panzer black.

A generals side cap would be void of any
soutache, for they commanded the different units
(different soutache colours) as a whole.
Soutache (waffenfarbe) is unit related, not divisional.
So a artillery commander would wear the red soutache
up to the highest rank of command in this section of arms
          (Standartenfuhrer or Oberfuhrer).
There will be exceptions of course, in reference to
where combat Generals wore Regimental cuff titles as honourary titles/personal choice(i.e Keppler wore "Der Fuhrer" cuff as a
          Gruppenfuhrer).
Waffen SS did not have the specialist sections of Generals as did
the Heere. Heere had Panzer Generals, Infantry Generals etc..
They would have Arms colour soutache on their side caps if
          preferred.
