    Estonian SS Shield?

I picked up this little group of German medals today, the owner threw in "this British lion badge" that he got with the lot. Apparently all of these were brought back by a Canadian nurse after the war and she gave them to him. Badge doesn't seem very British to me, looks more Estonian SS? I saw a few examples of it in the Estonian Museum thread mixed in with a bunch of other insignia but haven't managed to find one like it anywhere else, I assume they are somewhat uncommon? Anyways thought it was a cool find with some of this more "pedestrian" stuff!

Very nice. Sometimes referred to as the Polizei style shild, but of course also seen worn by armed forces (SS, Heer, Est.Border guard Btl).

Good to know its real! I'll probably be passing it on at some point as I'm more of a Heer guy, has anyone seen one of these for sale at any point and know anything about values? I don't know if its a $10 patch or a $100 one haha.

Mannequin from the Estonian SS Legion Museum at Parnu, which TonyS posted before in that thread that you referenced...
and an illustration in Polizei use.
The same 3 lion design shield was made completely stamped out of aluminum for Polizei use!

This German made Estonian shield was worn by members of the SS Btl. Narwa in the 5th SS Wiking Division and possibly by members of the “SS Inf. Ausb. u. Ers. Btl. 33” (SS Inf. Training & Replacement Btl. 33) whose purpose was to train and provide replacements for the 3rd Estonia Brigade was stationed in Heidelager.

I was doing a bit more research on these shields tonight and I noticed what looks like the same style shield that sold at Hermann Historica back in 2011. I would think that something like this would have been somewhat of a limited production run, but there are some large differences between the one that sold there and mine, the one they auctioned off has very crude details in comparison to mine in some areas. If these were all machine made would they not all be essentially the same, or would they have minor (or major) differences depending where in the production run they were? In these pictures the one that sold on HH is on the left, mine is on the right. If it is not obvious what I refer to, the lions bodies are shaped quite differently, not to mention numerous flaws on the HH one not present on mine. I could be paranoid though, but I find all these minor differences in these interesting.
Picture is hosted on photobucket, I would buy an Association Member subscription but I got rid of my credit card and that appears to be the only way to purchase one?

There are at least 7 shields of this type, all with minor differences.
Most of these are very sloppy and ugly but some are really nice, I will add a picture of 3 of these type of shields . From left to the right - ugly, the ugliest and one of the nicest.

The shields You posted are both original and very common.

Really common where can you find them for sale? Too me the common Estonian shields are the RZM SS Dachau type.

Sorry, I meant these are sloppy / ugly ones are common in Estonia.

This German made Estonian shield was worn by members of the SS Btl. Narwa in the 5th SS Wiking Division and possibly by members of the “SS Inf. Ausb. u. Ers. These shields were actually worn by estonians who served in W-SS, Wehrmacht and Polizei units - not just "Narwa" and Btl. 33.

                              Ugly perhaps, but still original!
