I agree, these pieces are from the shipping line and are not SS.

Monogram LAH-HAL was never used in the shipping company ..
You can watch a lot of booklets and no one will not see this monogram ..

Obviously the monogram used for their silver service and porcelain was different from the factory logo used on paper advertising materials.

There is a link in this thread that shows items bearing the HAPAG logo and this monogram together.

Many of these silver service items with the shipping line monogram are dated, dates I have seen include 1913 and 1923. In once case the shipping line monogram and the 1923 date were engraved together. How could this be, if this was LAH silver?

Anyone who maintains an SS connection to these items is simply engaging in wishful thinking, in my opinion. For me the evidence is so strong it could be termed proof.

In March 1923 the Stabswache or Headquarters Guard was formed, led by two of Hitler’s early stalwarts, Josef Berchtold and Julius Schreck. Two months later, this small group was provided with the more belligerent sounding monicker Stosstrupp Adolf Hitler, or “Adolf Hitler Shock Troops”..

So, safe to assume then that the "H.A.L." monogram shown is actually for the "Hamburg Amerika Linie" (Hamburg / America (steamship) line)? That would make sense.

Porcelain dishes with HAPAG logo - it is original, but has additional fake markings of LAH. Who, when and why someone put it there one can only guess. HAPAH and LAH markings originally were never used on the same piece. There is no single original booklet of HAPAG (Hamburg-America-Line) which would have
LAH monogram in it (one can try to look in historical papers of HAPAG).

1st option: engraved 1913 and 1914 may mean year of logo design.
2nd option: marking of LAH (Leibstandarte-SS) had been done on previously existing dishes made in 1913 (which were abundad in warehouses).

Furthermore patent office were already existing in Germany by that time, meaning under fuhrer regime stealing a logo was almost impossible.

These markings on the metal dishes are pure Leibstandarte-SS and no other entity's`. These are 1st type (earlier) markings.

Later there was a release of a 2nd type. There are excising metal and porcelain dishes with second type LAH monogram too.

Another striking example of delusion. GD - also not the troops , and the General Directorate of Deutsche Bahn :-)) Writes the last man in the subject ! However, the German railways ... A military photo - simply military railroad GD. So , shoulder boards with GD without dressing labeled Grossdeutchland - railroad !
As Layster LAH monogram attributed to the shipping company . Because collects Shipping Company. Or think fakes is done only for collectors SS?
Any most crazy idea have its supporters. Especially when the facts are too lazy to look for yourself. On the Internet , you can declare himself to Jesus , and be sure - there are followers !

Sorry for my bad english ..

But, something I'll discuss later)) ..

                          LAH vs. HAL

If I were to bet, I'd say that the only original LAH items shown, are the last two plates, and the shoulderboards w/ LAH cyphers, and the spoon at the end of Post #25. I'm basing this on the fact that, on the LAH logo, the bottoms of the "A" don't intersect with the vertical shafts of the "H". They DO intersect on the HAL items. I could be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that they took the LAH logo, and stylized it differently. If someone can post a known authentic LAH item with the LAH logo that has those letters, "A" & "H" intersecting in this fashion, I'll stand corrected. PS: The black shoulderboard with the script "LAH" in Post #25 is how the script "LAH" SHOULD look, IMO.

I appreciate this discussion...there are so many "so called" self-proclaimed SMEs....pushing a story they heard...or created. Too many SMEs.

This forum is for learning and sharing. I personally don't care if my LAH or HAL sugar tong is "SS". Thanks "prowler88" for all of the pictures and info.....great researching and digging.

                                Tongs

As per my last post, I would like to see an example of an original LAH logo that has the bottom of the "A" intersecting with the "H". They don't intersect on any of the shoulderboard cyphers, nor on the embroidered shoulderboard, nor on the last two plates, nor on that last spoon or fork handle.
