Advice for a new SS collector

Hi,
my question is : why do you want to collect SS items ?
If you already have a specific type of collection, why do you want to use some of your money to purchase something completely different ?
Do you want to invest, or is it just to be able to say "this is an SS item" ?
(notice this is not ironic, those are real questions you have to ask to yourself)
I may advice you to look for example at the Collector's Guild website, to see if you find something that you may find "cool" (The Guild is having a lot of different items). I totally understand that someone may become to be obsessed by a specific item, but you can may try to find at first some books on the subject (history, uniforms, units, helmets etc).
Then you may have a better idea about what do you want to collect.
See You
Vince

I think everyone is coming at this hobby with an angle - which is fine - for me - I like to place and decorate my apartment with key choice ss and nsdap stuff like I am a retired ss and nazi high official - it's what I like to do - so I don't want tonnes of the stuff as you can't display it nicely - I think the ss had a sense of style and attention to detail that was lost post the Second World War - if I had a time machine I'd like to see Himmler's train and wevelsburg when it was an ss palace - oh and an entry pass signed by heydrich - or they would shoot me
