Pair of SS EM collar tabs; opinions please??

Please your solid observations about these tabs.

I realize these are not 'standard' hence my question before putting them on E-stand. The tabs show honest age (IMO).

These were restored on a SS tunic I purchased about 30 years ago. The buckram backing was already missing.

    Thank you in advance.

I have seen this type of tab in the past and I believe they have always been dismissed as fakes. That said , I think it could "possibly" be an Italian manufactured one as compared to the photo posted below and my experience with
Some italian cottage industry embroidery methods.

Just a thought......... As futile as I believe it will be.

I wish the detail was a bit sharper in the photo.

And I did said "think" and "possibly".

Thank you both for your opinions and for the image Dennis.
I always assumed that likely these would indeed be of foreign manufacture (considering they were real).

For what it is worth, I also showed them to a -many of us (Dutch)- well known and experienced collector A. Breuker, who actually does believe in them.

I have a pair of tabs that look a lot like these. Always thought they were not originals or as Dennis says possibly of foreign manufacture.

Thank you for weighing in; but please elaborate why you do not like them (the first pair I mean)?

Do please also bear in mind that original foreign made eagles and tabs often look ridiculous or far from the real thing (therefore not necessarily claiming my pair is original of course), but important before dismissing it. Certainly since of course there is no uniformity in these.

The convincing golden/brown toned age and filth to the pair; the way the back is constructed (also very solid considering the buckram is missing);... it just does not strike me as a vicious copy from the 80's, not compared to others I know.

Just out of curiosity , did you black light them ..........

Won't tell you if they are real ,but if they glow it would be the kiss of death.

And please explain why you like it or not, after all was that my reason for posting.

                        Thank you.

                          Hi
I also do not like them.
The stiching to the tunic is not correct
the runes are different one from each other
They are too thin in my opinion.
I thought Italians had red tabs ????
foreign manufacture might be the answer and very late war issue arround 1944 when the quality of the uniforms was the last worries for the germans.

Still i would pass on them. May be if we may see the backing that could help.

In the end - if you are interested in German SS i sujest you to pass on them.
If you are interested in SS in general it will be nice to keep them - one day someone with more expirience could explain you that they are real and you could feel sorry for that you missed them.

                          Cheers

Italians also wore black tabs contrary to the early uninformed writings. One group of Italians in the italian SS trained in Debica Poland received German uniforms and standard waffen ss insignia while others wore red. Later the red was changed to black but mostly blank tabs. The photo I posted above and below are members not of the italian SS , but Italians in service of The SD/security forces . They are wearing non standard runes on mostly italian uniforms , so probably a short italian run of the tabs made.

The subject of Italians volunteers and there uniforms is too complex to get into a thread and I don't still have a complete grasp of all of it.

I am not saying these tabs are good, but have the possibility of being foreign made such as Italian, as said in my earlier post.

That is what the decision or thoughts must be based on. If someone knows of an old reproduction run of these type of tabs then that would help considerably also . If the opinions you are looking for are to be based on only known German standard manufacture by collectors of such than your just pissing in the wind.
