The runes look good. What makes them Dutch? The materials looks black instead of Police green or Waffen SS green. A black wrap would be the only uniform I can think of that might have black backed runes.

Dutch police uniforms were dark blue/black, correct? They are narrower and slightly different from German made runes...

Thank for the info. I will have to look in the Littlejohn book. Might be a photo showing one of these being worn.

In regards only to the black fabric being black =Dutch, I once showed my Black SS runes in the police cut and everyone in the know on WAF told me it was good, and it was Dutch. This is not the word of God, but with the further reading on them corroborating this, I am comfortable believing an authentic Runic breast patch in black is usually going to be Dutch.

                Jan,
here are mine (judged good on WAF along time ago) for your comparison with yours. Even with different shape of backing it may be helpful to see the style of Dutch work.

                  Indeed dutch police wore black.
From july 1941 they were trained in Schalkhaar.
The training was raised by the Germans and under supervision of "Höhere SS- und Polizeiführer Rauter"

Rauter said that Dutch policemen were allowed to become members of the Dutch SS, later Germanic SS. (They weren't allowed to participate in marches of the SS) (Source: http://www.politiemuseum.nl/UserFile...GSTIJD%202.pdf p.17)

Interesting movie about the training of the "Schalkhaar or Black police" as they were called:

                      sports suit

a bit off topic, but notice the sports suit of the instructor...

Out of curiosity; The SS Geb. Div. Prinz-Eugen is known for having worn breast runes on black as well (as opposed to standard on a field grey backing), although apparently with irregular placed runes. Nonetheless, could the ones this thread covers also been worn by them? I will check my books later but perhaps any photo proof exists?

Nice patch, I'm still looking for one like this.

                            I also love this picture:

                              Indeed an interesting picture!

Strange they still worn the Dutch Yzerhouwer Sabre.
