That ring has everything I would look for. It's a big one, it's an early one, and, best of all, it's a well-worn one. OK - so it isn't mint. But it has lots of CHARACTER. That ring would have a real story to tell if it could speak.

'S.lb. Elbing (?) 20.4.37 H. Himmler'

i.e. 'To dear Elbing (?) on 20th April 1937, from H. Himmler'.

It's a standard inscription.

Elbing (?) is the recipient's name, and should be traceable.

Yes the name sounds like Elbing. I have just thought to ask ho tow possible to trace a fate of this guy and may be someone may to tell us some details aboout him.
