How do we know that these runes were not theatre made?

The fakers are always trying to deceive us. I don't think any reproducer would go so far over the mark, off of the "standard" and expect to sell these as originals.

We know RZM control of WSS insignia ended in 1942. This could be a good example made and purchased locally, after 1942. The quality of the machine embroidery is very high.

Other than nobody in the WAF has ever seen pocket runes such as these, other than an opinion, where is the evidence these are reproductions?

            Hi,

Gary you are of course right, but probability of a "field made" badge is
            1) very low because it is still ugly, this is like a modern patch for painball, and
            2) no other "field made" badge variant is (to my knowledge) known, also
            3) the badge exist since 1937, this is doubtful that it was hard to order for former Allgemeine-SS member.

another good one (with green wool base), courtesy of Emedals.
