    SS M-43 field cap buttons

Hello, The button on the left is mine, I had a card of them several years ago and kept this one. I think it is correct, a friend of mine wanted to know if his (the one on the right) is correct, I have not handled enough of them to know. Can anyone help me. I bet every one of you has gone through this, but the next time, I am going to tell my friend to get his own membership, it does not cost that much, and I end up posting for him about every other month.
I think he will think I am a jerk, but to the paying members of this forum, I feel like he is forcing me into to being a jerk. The more members we have the better.
Any, enough of my soapbox, Mark I hope you see this.

Button on left = Button on right =Also, these are not M43 buttons ( though I have seen them used for this but non regulation, usually on single button M43. Im sure pics will surface that show them used on tunics also) but the single front button M37 (1st model) "overseas cap" for SSVT troops. Heres my example as featured on pgs. 169 & 172 in "The collector's guide to the distinctive cloth headgear of the Allgemeine & Waffen SS" by Mike Beaver & Bill Shea. I know of at least 3 different styles/manufacturers of these cap buttons and they were produced in a silver version & field grey (green) version. But once again, the button on right is NOT original. Hope this helped, Richard

One more quick fact: The cap originally (1937) sold for 5.20 RM and the button? .06 RM!!!!!!! (compare to todays prices if you wanna get a nose bleed )

The right one is indeed an obvious fake , but I can't say I like the left one either .
IMO this shows the typical irregular pebbling of a high end 1194-40 reproduction -overall construction of the back looks sloppy too ..

+ 1. The left one is questionable.

          Both are post war copies.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.
