      This description of the Landstorm uniform in another newspaper says the same ;

it explicitly mentions the BLANC right-hand collar tab .

So NO wolfsangel , runes , grenade or other tierelantijnen ..

          Rijkswapen

Notice that there is quite a difference with the Dutch heraldic lion :
NO CROWN at all ( royal or even " animalcrown " type as shown here ) , no sheaf of arrows , and the sword replaced by what appears to be a rubber one .
I have heard collectors refer to this Landstorm insignia as " het aapje " ( little monkey ) - not sure if that name was already used during the period ..

The sad fate of the two young men aside, those are two very nice and rare tunics. I would also like to see the mäntels that came along with them, is there any insignia on the mäntels? as for restoring them... I would leave them as is if mine.

              regards,

Sorry for replying and hijacking, but as it is in mine region I see the need to answer

The soldiers are still missing, some years ago they tried to find them but the search never took place. It is not known exactly were they were buried between 1944 and 2014 the Biesbosch area changed alot.
As for the execution itself, I think that they were at the wrong place at the wrong time, the Dutch resistance had an hard time with the Dutch SS and there was some hate between them.
There was never an official POW camp, some house boats (3 I think 1 is preserved) were there wich held the prisoners along side allied pilots from crashed planes and resistance people.

The guy from the Dutch resistance I know was most probably there when it happened he said:

'There was simply no other solution than kill them, these guys were dangerous as hell'

Before they killed the soldiers there was a small trial in an house boat things said there are unclear no one who was there is still alive today.

Along side this story there is a discussion about the number of killed soldiers, 5 are known for sure without doubt 1 is most probably and 9 more are discussed.

There is some more info, I already send this info to Twan in a PM.

Wow, very amazing and historical find.
Especially with the history behind these objects.

Makes me wonder what other objects are still hidden in attics and cellars.
