Perhaps there is more information on the photos or the album but isn't it more likely that the man in the first picture is in the 11th sturm of a foot regiment? It would be unusual for a bewerber or anwaerter to be on the staff of a regiment.
By the way, thanks for posting the pictures. They are extremely interesting.
