I was offered this outstanding ground dug LAH lot. How much is it worth?

He says the lot contains a "half tag"... When a soldier was KIA the tag was broken in half and half remained with the body when it was buried. I won't own any half tag or ground-dug ID disk of any kind and I wouldn't pay a nickel for this ghastly grouping.

I have a good russian friend who digs in Stalingrad area and he has found hundreds of tags last years, even halves, and he NEVER found a bone. Never. So I must say that it's not fair to put all the ground dug items in that "bag" of black diggers.

Here we go....GROUND DUG DOES NOT EQUAL GRAVE DUG...all im asking is people be factual.

I actually collect ground dug and have some experience in this side but as usual the same people make the same predictible comments.

There are actually many german vets families thankful for the finding of remains and the notification and thats due to Diggers.



Also , u might want to consider that there are legitimate diggers( paid for by the german govenrment) and when they retirieve a body
and hand the remains over are actually given any items found as some families arent interested in them.Anyone who uses the Volksbund
database for Soldbuch, wehrpass and document research can thank diggers for the information that their retrieval of remains have provided.

I have to agree with Keifer Khan on this one. I thought we were told ""Never buy the STORY, buy the ITEM". And "Ground-dug IS different than "grave-dug". Besides, didn't anyone ever see photos of the Marines in the Pacific, with Japanese skulls with things like, "Courtesy of 1st Bn. 1st Marines" painted on them? The bones of MILLIONS of people are scattered like dust in the wind, and it doesn't diminish the respect we have for their sacrifice or their honor. Besides, an SS trooper who took a round in the neck from an M-1 Garand, probably wasn't worried that someone would dig up his stuff.

I would have a hard time believing that all these items were found at the same time. This is probably a put together group, and though I dont have the expertise to judge about the authenticity, I would not be surprised if several of the items shown are fake. In any case, the cufftitle and shoulder boards do not look ground dug to me, unless they were preserved in very peculiar circumsances such as in a box, etc.
This does not cry grave robbing to me, it cries BS story.
