    SS-Obersturmfuehrer Collar Tabs

    Greetings one and all.

Would you SS men have a look at these collar tabs for your approval? I compared as much as I could through John Angolia's book "Cloth Insignia of the SS" and feel they are genuine, however there is that area of uncertainty from lack of personal knowledge that always makes one feel uneasy. Is $1250 a fair price for these or is that too much? Your opinions on value would be helpful too. I compared these with Kai Winkler's collection and seem to be in the ball park, but would like to offer these as inexpensively as I can afford. Your assistance never goes unappreciated and I am always grateful to learn from the true specialists of this area.

    With best regards,

    Dan.

        ..Well......

Im unable to say if theyre original or not. However the price range of USD 1250 is a fair price provided they are original. Shop around at the bigger internet dealers and get the price range. Its possible you can find at chaper price, however its much easier to buy at a higher price. Original SS officer tabs are getting hard to find for a fair price today. Im in the hunt myself. I just purchased a SS officer runes tab, early variant with rzm silk label, for USD 700.

Im sure more knowledgeable collectors here can help you with the help you ask for.

            Dan,
Personally, I would pass if these tabs were offered to me...Price is high, but then again every month there seems to be a new standard of what's an acceptable price. Best, John

Well, its a better deal for Europeans with the current exchange rate of the $/Euro.

I guess thats why its a more fair price to us.

              Cheers,

              Felix

There are things like and things I do not about these, my gut would not let me spend 1250 for them,

get a couple more opinions before you rush off to buy them,
                Good Luck,

                  Felix,
Agreed, the day of the dollar has passed for now, so us Americans are left Euro-envy. That said, I think my earlier comments could be construed as me not liking them due to the price. Yes, I think the price is high, but in the end I do not feel they are original tabs...John

At the risk of being shot down in flames, I think these are repros. The shape of the runes is wrong, and there are other things - e.g. the 'late' pips don't tally with the early tag.

"my gut would not let me spend 1250 for them"

I'm (as usual) late in on these but I really don't like them and MY gut would not let me spend £12.50 for them.Poor shaped runes, early tag with much later poor quality moulded prong pips (which as I've said before) I hate.

Sorry but NOT for me...even if it meant missing out on a bargain (which at that price they're not anyway)

                      Cheers,Ian.

Another item missing from RZM tag which should be present is the "ST" in front of the makers code for "Stickeri" or in English, hand embroidery. I too, would pass on these.

                          Well.....

I have had my doubts as well... But the shape of the runes might be totally ok.. That shape is seen in several wartime photos. However the pips looks to be late war style and have somewhat unusual prongs.

I wouldnt by that pair either.

But Im pretty sure you wont find an original matching par of SS officer collars tabs, with early silk RZM label, in good shape under $ 1250.

If you do please let me know! You know what world we are living in.....

                          /Felix
