              Cases

              IMO, an original WWII SS cigarette case would look exactly like any other period cigarette case, with the possible exception of a hand-engraved dedication. Such items certainly exist, but they'd be far more plain than the fantasy items with exotic skulls, etc. If that 2nd case was just plain, with poorly-scratched "Nord", etc., then I admit it's possible that the soldier personalized it himself. Having said all that, it ceretainly is possible that the high muckity-mucks in the Party had exotic items, but IMO, the vast majority of such items are post-war embellished.
