    Thanks Geert,

I might have "something" Flemish coming up the coming days to continue Pieter Verbruggen's threat "Vlaanderen... Land of beauty...", but I'm not 100% certain yet... Anyhow it will be something quite rare and they don't appear on these forums often... (and its not cloth ...)

    kind regards,

Jullie moeten er nu niet té veel van gaan denken hoor... 't is gewoon 'iets' Vlaams dat de meesten blijkbaar altijd vergeten of over het hoofd zien, maar ook tamelijk zeldzaam is...

                      No-no..

Real SS-tunic - just it! Does it feel the insignia is original to the tunic?

                                Hi Gerd,

I really hate to say this but I think that runic tab is a copy made in France. Note the crude outline stitching on the runes.

I also notice a white residue on the tab itself which I believe is the remnants of starch added to the tab to make it seem stiff. Starch also will make the tab swell a bit giving the appearance of a tab being on a tunic for a long time. A trick the fakers like to use.

I had a SS M44 tunic sent to me once with what appears to be the same runic tab as on this jacket. Both Peter Whamond and Dave Delich gave it the thumbs down.
I took pics of the tab but lost them when I had some computer troubles. I am just basing my opinion on the pics and I could be wrong as I am no SS insignia expert, but I am sure others will comment. Sorry,
                                The jacket itself looks 100%.
