Hi Werner, thanks you for most interesting information on the Zeltbahn...
So the reason why the colours on the fall side is somewhat lighter then the colours on the seam(on the fall side)is that it is type B and type A ??
If you take a look on the green side there is a piece overlapping the hole for the head, would that be the same reason why it is somewhat different in the colour ??
Sorry for my English sure hope you get my point...

Those different color pieces at the head hole are Oak A like the rest of the zelt from what I can tell, just printed in a different shade. It's not uncommon to see different pieces in the same pattern with minor color variations.

The reason why the cloth at the head opening has darker shade portions than the rest of the zeltbahn, is that this piece of cloth was probably printed when the dye roll was just inked. Hence making the printing result more expressive in both colors and sharpness. Once the dye rolls were getting out of ink both colors and sharpness tended to fade out.
Normally there was a strict control on that process, that is also why in the early SS zelts, it is rarely seen that colors or sharpness faded out. The oak zelts are typical for mid war or end war productions, there control was less important than the production itself.
More info about the maker can be provided if you know who it is. But stamps on Oak zelts are rather rare.
More can be found in my zeltbahn book, if ever it can get out of China...( also see my website www.ereitzuniformwerke.be for more info about that.
WernerInterested in all E. Reitz Uniformwerke items.
